Terms of Service

Last updated: May 9, 2026

This is a translation for convenience. The legally binding version is the German one.

01Scope

These Terms of Service govern the contract between Marouane Naghmouchi (hereinafter "we") and you as a user (hereinafter "you") regarding the use of the Asla app and website (hereinafter "App"). By registering, you accept these Terms.

02Service description

Asla is a learning app for Arabic heritage languages. In the current version (MVP) the focus is on the Tunisian dialect, primarily for the French-speaking diaspora and German-speaking learners. The app provides:

  • curated vocabulary decks
  • spaced-repetition reviews
  • learning progress with XP and level system
  • learning aids such as tutorials and themed units

Asla is not a language certificate and does not replace formal language tuition. Content is curated with great care; we cannot, however, guarantee linguistic accuracy of every entry.

03Registration and minimum age

Use of the app requires an account. For persons under 16 years of age, parental consent is required (Art. 8 GDPR). On registration you confirm that your details are accurate and complete and that you have reached the required age.

04Pricing

Use of Asla is currently free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future. A switch to a paid model never affects services already provided or in progress without your explicit consent.

05User obligations

You agree to:

  • not use the app for abusive or unlawful purposes
  • not bypass security mechanisms, reverse-engineer or scrape the app
  • keep your credentials confidential and report any suspected misuse
  • not submit content that violates applicable law or third-party rights

In case of serious or repeated breaches, we may suspend or delete your account.

06Intellectual property

All content of the app (texts, decks, translations, layouts, logos, code) is protected by copyright. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app solely for personal use. Any further use (in particular reproduction, modification, commercial use, public dissemination) requires our prior written consent.

07Availability

We aim to keep the app highly available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, technical disruptions or measures by our service providers may cause temporary limitations.

08Liability

We are liable without limitation for damages resulting from injury to life, body or health, and for damages caused by intent or gross negligence. Otherwise we are only liable for breach of essential contractual duties and only up to the amount of foreseeable damage typical for such contracts. Any further liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

Asla does not replace professional language education. Learning success depends on individual effort.

09Termination

You may end your use at any time by deleting your account in the app ("Profile → Delete account"). On deletion, all personal data and learning progress are removed irrevocably. We may terminate the contract for cause in case of breaches under section 5.

10Changes

We may amend these Terms when required for legal or functional reasons. The amended version will be made available in the app and at getasla.com/terms. Material changes will be communicated to you in good time before they take effect.

11Governing law and venue

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected. Place of jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by law, is the seat of the provider.

12Online dispute resolution

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

13Severability

Should individual provisions of these Terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.
